Spray it on. Try incorporating the use of a spray containing chlorhexidine (CHX), a powerful anti-bacterial with plaque-inhibiting properties, in your dental care routine. One study on elderly patients, a group at risk for periodontal disease, found that a once-daily application of a 0.2% CHX spray reduced plaque accumulation and inflammation caused by gingivitis. Brushing and flossing help keep your teeth healthy and your smile bright. Critical as good oral hygiene is to your dental health; the steps you take at home are significantly more effective when they are part of a comprehensive dental care plan that includes regular dental exams and cleanings. Visiting the dentist every six months is essential to protecting yourself from tooth decay and periodontal disease. Without professional help, these common dental problems can lead to a host of serious health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Nonsurgical scaling and root planing are usually successful if the periodontal pockets are shallower than 4–5 mm (0.16–0.20 in). The dentist or hygienist must perform a re-evaluation four to six weeks after the initial scaling and root planing, to determine if the person's oral hygiene has improved and inflammation has regressed. Probing should be avoided then, and an analysis by gingival index should determine the presence or absence of inflammation. The monthly reevaluation of periodontal therapy should involve periodontal charting as a better indication of the success of treatment, and to see if other courses of treatment can be identified. Pocket depths of greater than 5–6 mm (0.20–0.24 in) which remain after initial therapy, with bleeding upon probing, indicate continued active disease and will very likely lead to further bone loss over time. This is especially true in molar tooth sites where furcations (areas between the roots) have been exposed. Ceramic Dental Implants Surgery

Placement of the implant: The implant screw is placed and can be self-tapping,(pp100–102) otherwise the prepared site is tapped with an implant analog. It is then screwed into place with a torque controlled wrench at a precise torque so as not to overload the surrounding bone (overloaded bone can die, a condition called osteonecrosis, which may lead to failure of the implant to fully integrate or bond with the jawbone).
However, later research suggests that the initial stability of the implant in bone is a more important determinant of success of implant integration, rather than a certain period of healing time. As a result, the time allowed to heal is typically based on the density of bone the implant is placed in and the number of implants splinted together, rather than a uniform amount of time. When implants can withstand high torque (35 Ncm) and are splinted to other implants, there are no meaningful differences in long-term implant survival or bone loss between implants loaded immediately, at three months, or at six months. The corollary is that single implants, even in solid bone, require a period of no-load to minimize the risk of initial failure. Dental Implants London - WATCH WARNING

The general recommendation is to use over-the-counter whitening products up to two times a year. Using whitening products too often can lead to increased tooth sensitivity or white spots — this is natural and due to certain areas of your teeth that have a lack of calcium (also known as hypocalcification). Excessive whitening can make the spots more prominent. London Cosmetic Dentistry - Dental Smile Makeover
Having lost a tooth is a serious matter. Most times this is from a naturally occurring illness within your gums, but sometimes it can be from a traumatic accident. Make sure to clean the tooth off gently with warm water, do not brush it or you may damage the tissue. If you cannot replace the tooth into the socket, keep it in milk while you are travelling to the after hours dentist, because you definitely need to see an emergency dental care professional at this point.
Like other conditions intimately related to access to hygiene and basic medical monitoring and care, periodontitis tends to be more common in economically disadvantaged populations or regions. Its occurrence decreases with a higher standard of living. In Israeli population, individuals of Yemenite, North-African, South Asian, or Mediterranean origin have higher prevalence of periodontal disease than individuals from European descent. Periodontitis is frequently reported to be socially patterned, i.e. people from the lower end of the socioeconomic scale suffer more often from it than people from the upper end of the socioeconomic scale. Changes in the thickness of the dental hard tissues would result in intrinsic discolouration. There are a few causal factors that may act locally or systematically, affecting only a single tooth or all teeth and cause discolouration as a result. Several diseases that are known to affect the developing dentition especially during enamel and dentine formation can lead to discolouration. Chlorhexidine (marketed as the prescription-only brands Peridex, PerioChip, PerioGard, and by numerous other over-the-counter trade names) is an antimicrobial used to control plaque and gingivitis in the mouth or in periodontal pockets. The medication is available as a mouth rinse or as a gelatin-filled chip that is placed in pockets after root planing and releases the medication slowly over about 7 days. Other antibiotics, including doxycycline, tetracycline, and minocycline may also be used to treat gum disease, as determined by your dentist. Favero Dental Clinic, Wimpole Street, London 2
Dental implants as we know them today were invented in 1952 by a Swedish orthopedic surgeon named Per-Ingvar Brånemark. Today, they are considered the standard of care for prosthetic replacement of missing teeth in dentistry. A dental implant is a surgical fixture that is placed into the jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone over the span of a few months. The dental implant acts as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. In turn, this "artificial tooth root" serves to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Having a dental implant fused to the jawbone is the closest thing to mimicking a natural tooth because it stands on its own without affecting the nearby teeth and has great stability. The process of fusion between the dental implant and jawbone is called "osseointegration." Most dental implants are made of titanium, which allows them to integrate with bone without being recognized as a foreign object in our body. Over time, technology and science have progressed to greatly improve the outcomes of dental implant placement. Today, the success rate for dental implants is close to 98%.
If you don’t need bone grafting, getting a dental implant should be no more bothersome than getting a filling—maybe less—and you won’t need any time off work to recover. You may have some mild soreness or swelling for the first few days after getting your implant, but this can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and shouldn’t affect your daily routine. Your dentist may suggest a soft or liquid diet for a few days or so.

Removal of microbial plaque and calculus is necessary to establish periodontal health. The first step in the treatment of periodontitis involves nonsurgical cleaning below the gumline with a procedure called Root Surface Instrumentation or RSI, this causes a mechanical disturbance to the bacterial biofilm below the gumline. This procedure involves the use of specialized curettes to mechanically remove plaque and calculus from below the gumline, and may require multiple visits and local anesthesia to adequately complete. In addition to initial Root Surface Instrumentation, it may also be necessary to adjust the occlusion (bite) to prevent excessive force on teeth that have reduced bone support. Also, it may be necessary to complete any other dental needs, such as replacement of rough, plaque-retentive restorations, closure of open contacts between teeth, and any other requirements diagnosed at the initial evaluation. It is important to note that RSI is different to Scaling and Root planing: RSI only removes the calculus, whilst scaling and root planing removes the calculus as well as underlying softened dentine, which leaves behind a smooth and glassy surface, which is not a requiste for periodontal healing. Therefore RSI is now advocated over root planing. Travers Dental Practice Kings Cross London Exceptional Five Star Review by V Nallamilli
Mini Dental Implants are very narrow, about the size of a toothpick, and are used primarily to stabilize a lower denture. In most cases, four mini implants are inserted in the front of the jaw using mild anesthesia. The patient's denture is then carefully adjusted by the dentist to allow it to snap onto the mini implants. If successful, the mini implants will firmly secure the lower denture and prevent slippage. Typically patients can eat lightly about an hour after the procedure. Also, with some practice, patients can remove and replace the denture for cleaning. London Dental Care - London, OH
If left undisturbed, microbial plaque calcifies to form calculus, which is commonly called tartar. Calculus above and below the gum line must be removed completely by the dental hygienist or dentist to treat gingivitis and periodontitis. Although the primary cause of both gingivitis and periodontitis is the microbial plaque that adheres to the tooth surfaces, there are many other modifying factors. A very strong risk factor is one's genetic susceptibility. Several conditions and diseases, including Down syndrome, diabetes, and other diseases that affect one's resistance to infection, also increase susceptibility to periodontitis. Integration failure is rare, particularly if a dentist's or oral surgeon's instructions are followed closely by the patient. Immediate loading implants may have a higher rate of failure, potentially due to being loaded immediately after trauma or extraction, but the difference with proper care and maintenance is well within statistical variance for this type of procedure. More often, osseointegration failure occurs when a patient is either too unhealthy to receive the implant or engages in behavior that contraindicates proper dental hygiene including smoking or drug use. The treatments are also very simple. After applying the whitening gel to your dental tray and inserting it into your mouth with a secure fit, apply the LED light and leave for 5 to 20 minutes. If you wish you can gradually work your way up to 45 minutes per treatment but take care as this is a long time to be exposing your teeth to the gel. After the time has passed you can remove the light and you can leave the gel on for another 10 minutes, but this is optional. Go Smile actually gets somewhat better user reviews than most of the tooth whitening systems in this report (although none of the credible products get much more than slightly above average ratings), with users saying it worked as advertised. The biggest complaint we saw was that the gel can be difficult to squeeze out of the tube. Also, because you "snap" the gel cap open, it's not quite as portable as most of the other methods we cover here because of the possibility that the tubes will open accidentally.

Ease of use really set Go Smile apart from the rest. You can apply the gel quickly and it’s totally wearable — simply pull out a vial, snap it with your fingers to release the solution, and paint it on your teeth. We liked the paint-on approach, because it meant we were more able to adjust the placement of the whitener on our teeth and find the best ways to avoid getting it on our gums. It’s much easier to control than the one-size-fits-all strips, which can be difficult to manipulate into place.

Most teeth whitening products on the market use similar active ingredients to whiten. The difference is the device that is used to hold the whitening agent on the tooth. A truly custom-fitted whitening tray ensures that every angle of every tooth (regardless of whether your teeth are straight or not) receives even and consistent coverage. Unlike boil & bit trays, whitening strips, and UV lights, fitted whitening trays eliminate the possibility of inconsistencies and allow you to maintain your beautiful smile.

Dr. Paul Amato, DDS, FAGD explained if you go above 10% hydrogen peroxide or 35% carbamide peroxide, “then you’re getting into the professional grade.” Whitening products this strong should only be used with dentist supervision — they’ll take care to completely protect your gum tissue with a rubber dam or gel. In any case, you should consult your dentist before using any teeth whitening product to make sure you’re getting what’s best for your teeth and gums.
The first thing to do is visit your dental team for a thorough check-up of your teeth and gums. They will measure the 'cuff' of gum around each tooth to see if there is any sign that periodontal disease has started. X-rays may also be needed to see the amount of bone that has been lost. This assessment is very important, so the correct treatment can be prescribed for you. Doctors Medicate a Public Piano (Warning: EXTREME)
The Power Swabs® system was first introduced in 2008 with a breakthrough, patented teeth whitening technology developed by celebrated dentist Dr. Martin Giniger. In fact, Dr. Giniger’s Power Swabs home teeth whitening product is proven to whiten teeth as well as white strips, but with far less sensitivity and greater ease of use. To accomplish this, Power Swabs whitening products use a patented combination of clinically-researched ingredients to reach between enamel and break the molecular bonds between positively charged stained molecules and the negatively charged surfaces they are bound to for a platinum white clean. An added bonus to the gentle formula is that it works on cosmetic dentistry as well as natural teeth. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DENTAL STUDENT | Barts and the London
For minor discoloration that is confined to one or two teeth, you can try using a teeth-whitening pen. A tooth-whitening pen uses the same types of ingredients present in a teeth-whitening treatment but allows you to precisely apply the bleach to the stain. Like teeth-whitening kits, pens must be used repeatedly over an extended period of time to produce noticeable results. Dental Implants Harley Street
Bruxism (clenching and grinding of the teeth) can lead to micro-cracking of the incisal edges of the teeth. Extrinsic stains may settle more readily into these cracks, and a thin layer of enamel can be left. This thin enamel layer is partially transparent, allowing the dark background of the mouth to shine through, affording a darker appearance of the incisal edge. Tooth darkening can be a side effect of certain antihistamines, antipsychotics and high blood pressure medications. Young children who are exposed to antibiotics like tetracycline and doxycycline when their teeth are forming (either in the womb or as a baby) may have discoloration of their adult teeth later in life. Chemotherapy and head and neck radiation can also darken teeth. Best Dentist in London

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is a set of inflammatory conditions affecting the tissues surrounding the teeth. In its early stage, called gingivitis, the gums become swollen, red, and may bleed. In its more serious form, called periodontitis, the gums can pull away from the tooth, bone can be lost, and the teeth may loosen or fall out. Bad breath may also occur. Monday Bites
The Luster Pro Light Dental Whitening System is a bit finickier to use than strips. You have to start with a rinse, apply a serum to each tooth, and hold the light in front of your teeth for two minutes. The directions suggest placing a cotton ball inside your mouth to absorb saliva build-up, something that the Allure reviewer says is more trouble than it's worth. There are a variety of treatment options based upon your time frame. Dentists london
Periodontal disease is the most common disease found in dogs and affects more than 80% of dogs aged three years or older. Its prevalence in dogs increases with age, but decreases with increasing body weight; i.e., toy and miniature breeds are more severely affected. Recent research undertaken at the Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition has established that the bacteria associated with gum disease in dogs are not the same as in humans. Systemic disease may develop because the gums are very vascular (have a good blood supply). The blood stream carries these anaerobic micro-organisms, and they are filtered out by the kidneys and liver, where they may colonize and create microabscesses. The microorganisms traveling through the blood may also attach to the heart valves, causing vegetative infective endocarditis (infected heart valves). Additional diseases that may result from periodontitis include chronic bronchitis and pulmonary fibrosis. COME TO THE DENTIST WITH ME! LONDON VLOG 🇬🇧

As the name suggests, Crest Gentle Routine Whitestrips are strips that you apply to your teeth. The dentists we consulted agreed strips were the most likely to provide the best results — strips keep whitening gel in contact with your teeth. Other methods such as rub-on gels or pens can leave whitening solutions open to moisture and dilution, which can diminish your overall results. Camden at the Dentist part 1
In-office bleaching provides the quickest way to whiten teeth. With in-office bleaching, the whitening product is applied directly to the teeth. These products can be used in combination with heat, a special light, or a laser. Results are seen in only one, 30- to 60-minute treatment. But to achieve dramatic results, several appointments are usually needed. However, with in-office bleaching, dramatic results can be seen after the first treatment. This type of whitening is also the most expensive approach.
Dentists and dental hygienists measure periodontal disease using a device called a periodontal probe. This thin "measuring stick" is gently placed into the space between the gums and the teeth, and slipped below the gumline. If the probe can slip more than 3 mm (0.12 in) below the gumline, the person is said to have a gingival pocket if no migration of the epithelial attachment has occurred or a periodontal pocket if apical migration has occurred. This is somewhat of a misnomer, as any depth is, in essence, a pocket, which in turn is defined by its depth, i.e., a 2-mm pocket or a 6-mm pocket. However, pockets are generally accepted as self-cleansable (at home, by the person, with a toothbrush) if they are 3 mm or less in depth. This is important because if a pocket is deeper than 3 mm around the tooth, at-home care will not be sufficient to cleanse the pocket, and professional care should be sought. When the pocket depths reach 6 to 7 mm (0.24 to 0.28 in) in depth, the hand instruments and cavitrons used by the dental professionals may not reach deeply enough into the pocket to clean out the microbial plaque that causes gingival inflammation. In such a situation, the bone or the gums around that tooth should be surgically altered or it will always have inflammation which will likely result in more bone loss around that tooth. An additional way to stop the inflammation would be for the person to receive subgingival antibiotics (such as minocycline) or undergo some form of gingival surgery to access the depths of the pockets and perhaps even change the pocket depths so they become 3 mm or less in depth and can once again be properly cleaned by the person at home with his or her toothbrush. An implant supported bridge (or fixed denture) is a group of teeth secured to dental implants so the prosthetic cannot be removed by the user. Bridges typically connect to more than one implant and may also connect to teeth as anchor points. Typically the number of teeth will outnumber the anchor points with the teeth that are directly over the implants referred to as abutments and those between abutments referred to as pontics. Implant supported bridges attach to implant abutments in the same way as a single tooth implant replacement. A fixed bridge may replace as few as two teeth (also known as a fixed partial denture) and may extend to replace an entire arch of teeth (also known as a fixed full denture). In both cases, the prosthesis is said to be fixed because it cannot be removed by the denture wearer.
Move the brush across the teeth using a small circular motion (if using an electric toothbrush, hold it at the same angle against the teeth and gum line and let it do the work). Continue with this motion cleaning one tooth at a time. Keep the tips of the bristles against the gum line. Avoid pressing so hard that the bristles lie flat against the teeth. (Only the tips of the toothbrush clean the teeth.) Let the bristles reach into spaces between teeth. What can you expect from your teeth whitening in Camden?
After scaling and root planing, if the gum tissue is not fitting snugly around the tooth and you can't keep the deep pocket area clean, you may be a candidate for periodontal pocket reduction or flap surgery. By folding back the gum tissue, your dentist or periodontist can remove infectious bacteria and smooth areas of damaged bone, allowing the gum tissue to reattach to healthy bone. The professional teeth whitening process starts with a consultation with your dentist. Not everyone is a good candidate for teeth whitening, which is why you want to talk to a dentist before you have it done. If you have large fillings or crowns (caps) on your front teeth, teeth bleaching is not a good idea. The chemicals will bleach your natural teeth but not your dental restorations (which are made from ceramic, porcelain or composite material), resulting in your teeth being different colors.
Placement of dental implants is a surgical procedure and carries the normal risks of surgery including infection, excessive bleeding and necrosis of the flap of tissue around the implant. Nearby anatomic structures, such as the inferior alveolar nerve, the maxillary sinus and blood vessels, can also be injured when the osteotomy is created or the implant placed. Even when the lining of the maxillary sinus is perforated by an implant, long term sinusitis is rare. An inability to place the implant in bone to provide stability of the implant (referred to as primary stability of the implant) increases the risk of failure to osseointegration.(p68)

Periodontitis - At this stage, the supporting bone and fibers that hold the teeth in place are irreversibly damaged. The gums begin to form a pocket below the gum line, which encourages penetration and growth of plaque below the gum line. Professional periodontal therapy and improved personal oral hygiene can usually help prevent further damage to the gum tissue and supporting tissue and bone. Dental Implant Centre

A lost crown is a dental emergency, but as with a lost filling, you should be able to put off treatment until your general dentist is available. In the meantime, you can apply clove oil to the tooth to alleviate any soreness. You can also apply some denture glue to the tooth and slip the crown back over it. Never use super glue to reattach the crown. If you cannot get the crown to stay securely on your tooth, store it in a plastic bag until you are able to get to the dentist. While you don't need to see the dentist the same night you lose the crown, do make an appointment as soon as possible. Putting off treatment may lead to additional damage to the tooth. Furthermore, because dental implants integrate into the bone structure, they are very stable and can have the look and feel of one's own natural teeth.
