Changes in the thickness of the dental hard tissues would result in intrinsic discolouration. There are a few causal factors that may act locally or systematically, affecting only a single tooth or all teeth and cause discolouration as a result. Several diseases that are known to affect the developing dentition especially during enamel and dentine formation can lead to discolouration.[9] Causes of intrinsic staining include: London Teeth Whitening Dental Clinic | Call: 44-2038703231
Can you prevent your teeth from becoming stained in the first place? Good practices mean avoiding staining substances. The most egregious are red wine, coffee and tobacco residue. Other foods on the staining list are tea, tomato sauce and balsamic vinegar. If the thought of avoiding any of those makes you want to cry, Messina advises rinsing with water after eating. Brushing your teeth is even better.

It’s our promise that you won’t undergo any treatment not directly contributing to your long-term dental health. That means that drilling, because it’s so invasive, is a last resort. And yes — the alternatives do really work! Remineralization is a process that helps teeth actually grow stronger so that an early soft spot doesn’t turn into a cavity. Sealants are another great option to prevent the formation and spread of decay. It’s only in cases where less invasive treatment isn’t successful that your dentist may decide to drill.

An increasingly common strategy to preserve bone and reduce treatment times includes the placement of a dental implant into a recent extraction site. On the one hand, it shortens treatment time and can improve aesthetics because the soft tissue envelope is preserved. On the other hand, implants may have a slightly higher rate of initial failure. Conclusions on this topic are difficult to draw, however, because few studies have compared immediate and delayed implants in a scientifically rigorous manner.[24] How long dental implants last ?
The National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) sometimes seeks volunteers with specific dental, oral, and craniofacial conditions to participate in research studies, also known as clinical trials. Researchers may provide study participants with limited free or low-cost dental treatment for the particular condition they are studying. To find out if there are any NIDCR clinical trials that you might fit into, go to "NIDCR Studies Seeking Patients." For a complete list of all federally funded clinical trials, visit ClinicalTrials.gov. To see if you qualify for any clinical trials being conducted at our Bethesda, Maryland, campus, you can call the Clinical Center's Patient Recruitment and Public Liaison Office at 1-800-411-1222. Tissue adaptation: The gingiva is adapted around the entire implant to provide a thick band of healthy tissue around the healing abutment. In contrast, an implant can be "buried", where the top of the implant is sealed with a cover screw and the tissue is closed to completely cover it. A second procedure would then be required to uncover the implant at a later date. Dental Implants in London
Planning for dental implants focuses on the general health condition of the patient, the local health condition of the mucous membranes and the jaws and the shape, size, and position of the bones of the jaws, adjacent and opposing teeth. There are few health conditions that absolutely preclude placing implants although there are certain conditions that can increase the risk of failure. Those with poor oral hygiene, heavy smokers and diabetics are all at greater risk for a variant of gum disease that affects implants called peri-implantitis, increasing the chance of long-term failures. Long-term steroid use, osteoporosis and other diseases that affect the bones can increase the risk of early failure of implants.[8](p199) Dental Implant Patient from London, UK - 15/09/2016

A loose braces bracket is not a reason to visit your emergency dentist at 12:00 am, but it is a reason to see your orthodontist or general dentist as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can use orthodontic wax to hold the loose bracket in place. Also apply some wax over the top of the bracket so that it does not rub on your cheek. Your orthodontist will probably need to re-cement the bracket or replace it entirely. Private Dentist

Doxycycline may be given alongside the primary therapy of scaling (see § initial therapy).[62] Doxycycline has been shown to improve indicators of disease progression (namely probing depth and attachment level).[62] Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases (such as collagenase), which degrade the teeth's supporting tissues (periodontium) under inflammatory conditions.[62] To avoid killing beneficial oral microbes, only small doses of doxycycline (20 mg) are used.[62] Washable keyboard at new Islington Dentist
To achieve an adequate width and height of bone, various bone grafting techniques have been developed. The most frequently used is called guided bone graft augmentation where a defect is filled with either natural (harvested or autograft) bone or allograft (donor bone or synthetic bone substitute), covered with a semi-permeable membrane and allowed to heal. During the healing phase, natural bone replaces the graft forming a new bony base for the implant.[27]:223

Guided tissue regeneration. Performed when the bone supporting your teeth has been destroyed, this procedure stimulates bone and gum tissue growth. Done in combination with flap surgery, a small piece of mesh-like fabric is inserted between the bone and gum tissue. This keeps the gum tissue from growing into the area where the bone should be, allowing the bone and connective tissue to regrow to better support the teeth. The Coolest Dentist in London

While strips in general can be a little uncomfortable, and you have to take care when applying them to avoid your gums, many dentists recommend this application method as the extended contact with teeth can yield better results. Dr. Friedman explained that, “Pens and gels are the least effective because the peroxide makes minimal contact with your teeth. Strips get the job done by sticking right to your teeth and directly applying peroxide” over time.
If, as a result of an inadequate cleaning technique, plaque deposits are left on the teeth, these will become mineralised and turn into hard, fixed deposits (calculus, commonly known as tartar) that cannot be removed with a toothbrush. Your dentist or periodontist will identify these tartar deposits during your regular dental inspection and remove them as part of a professional clean. After the deposits are removed, the teeth are polished with special pastes and cups to create a smooth surface that is less likely to accumulate plaque. From these theoretical risks, derive the real world complications. Long-term failures are due to either loss of bone around the tooth and/or gingiva due to peri-implantitis or a mechanical failure of the implant. Because there is no dental enamel on an implant, it does not fail due to cavities like natural teeth. While large-scale, long-term studies are scarce, several systematic reviews estimate the long-term (five to ten years) survival of dental implants at 93–98 percent depending on their clinical use.[1][2][3] During initial development of implant retained teeth, all crowns were attached to the teeth with screws, but more recent advancements have allowed placement of crowns on the abutments with dental cement (akin to placing a crown on a tooth). This has created the potential for cement, that escapes from under the crown during cementation to get caught in the gingiva and create a peri-implantitis (see picture below). While the complication can occur, there does not appear to be any additional peri-implantitis in cement-retained crowns compared to screw-retained crowns overall.[48] In compound implants (two stage implants), between the actual implant and the superstructure (abutment) are gaps and cavities into which bacteria can penetrate from the oral cavity. Later these bacteria will return into the adjacent tissue and can cause periimplantitis. As prophylaxis these implant interior spaces should be sealed.[49] How To Move From NHS Dentistry to Private
Females generally have slightly whiter teeth than males, partly because females' teeth are smaller, and therefore there is less bulk of dentin, partially visible through the enamel layer. For the same reason, larger teeth such as the molars and the canine (cuspid) teeth tend to be darker. Baby teeth (deciduous teeth) are generally whiter than the adult teeth that follow, again due to differences in the ratio of enamel to dentin. As a person ages the adult teeth often become darker due to changes in the mineral structure of the tooth, as the enamel becomes less porous[citation needed] and phosphate-deficient. The enamel layer may also be gradually thinned or even perforated by the various forms of tooth wear. Get Best Dentist In Holborn - Tom Parker - FreshDental Testimonial
What's in that teeth whitening product? We wanted to include the percentage of whitening ingredient in each of the teeth whitening products that we recommend, but it's not easy to ascertain that number because the manufacturers do not include those specifics on their websites. In each case, we reached out to the manufacturer to verify ingredient percentages, with mixed results. Some makers were glad to share percentages, others politely declined, saying that was considered proprietary information.
In addition to the dental and nutritional problems associated with missing teeth, there are social and personal self-esteem concerns as well.  Missing teeth have a negative influence on personal  self confidence and social activities.  Many family and social functions revolve around meals, and these situations can be difficult if not embarrassing for anyone who can’t chew properly.  Also, spaces between missing teeth degenerate and can lead to significant bone loss that cause atrophy in the jawbone. An abutment is selected depending on the application. In many single crown and fixed partial denture scenarios (bridgework), custom abutments are used. An impression of the top of the implant is made with the adjacent teeth and gingiva. A dental lab then simultaneously fabricates an abutment and crown. The abutment is seated on the implant, a screw passes through the abutment to secure it to an internal thread on the implant (lag-screw). There are variations on this, such as when the abutment and implant body are one piece or when a stock (prefabricated) abutment is used. Custom abutments can be made by hand, as a cast metal piece or custom milled from metal or zirconia, all of which have similar success rates.[22](p1233)

Some older adults with missing teeth rely on bridgework or dentures to preserve their dental function.  Bridges require grinding down healthy teeth to function as abutments to anchor the side of the bridge without the crown.  Over time, worn-out bridgework can be harmful for preserving dental function and preventing bone loss in the jaw.  Bridges generally fail after 5-10 years as patients have difficulty flossing them.  Therefore, root surfaces below and around bridgework become highly susceptible to decay and are not reparable.  As a result, teeth supporting the old bridge often are lost, requiring insertion of longer bridges that further compromise dentition.  For most patients, implants are a much better treatment alternative because they preserve the bone of the jaw, do not decay, and function just like natural teeth.
Occasionally a patient is missing more than one tooth, but still has healthy gums and surrounding teeth, and a multiple implant is the best solution. Two fixtures are implanted and the crown is attached, leaving other natural teeth intact. The multiple implant is not for everyone, and even if a patient is only missing a few teeth, it may still be preferable to perform an all-on-four procedure.

After an implant is placed, the internal components are covered with either a healing abutment, or a cover screw. A healing abutment passes through the mucosa, and the surrounding mucosa is adapted around it. A cover screw is flush with the surface of the dental implant, and is designed to be completely covered by mucosa. After an integration period, a second surgery is required to reflect the mucosa and place a healing abutment.[27](pp190–1) Dental Implants to replace lower central incisors

One way to address staining is by using at-home teeth-whitening treatment kits. These products are milder versions of the bleaching kits that are used by dentists to whiten teeth in the office. Teeth-whitening treatments typically use either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide as an active ingredient. When the whitening gel or liquid is applied to the teeth, the key ingredient creates a chemical reaction, helping to break down the stain. Typically, teeth-whitening treatment products must be left in place for a set number of minutes daily for a certain period of time, such as one or two weeks. Tooth decay and gum disease are caused by plaque, a sticky combination of bacteria and food. Plaque begins to build up on teeth within a few minutes after eating. If teeth are not cleaned well each day, plaque will lead to tooth decay or gum disease. If you do not remove plaque, it turns into a hard deposit called tartar that becomes trapped at the base of the tooth. Plaque and tartar irritate and inflame the gums. Bacteria and the toxins they produce cause the gums to become:
Both dental plaque and tartar are filled with harmful bacteria, and if they aren't removed from teeth, they will begin to irritate the gums and cause gingivitis. If left untreated, gingivitis will often extend from the gums to the bone and lead to periodontitis. When the underlying bone gets infected, it will start to recede away from the teeth and form deep gum pockets. These pockets collect plaque and bacteria as they are very difficult to keep clean, and more bone loss occurs. As periodontal disease progresses into later stages and more bone tissue is lost, the teeth may eventually become loose and fall out.
Measure the pocket depth of the groove between your gums and teeth by placing a dental probe beside your tooth beneath your gumline, usually at several sites throughout your mouth. In a healthy mouth, the pocket depth is usually between 1 and 3 millimeters (mm). Pockets deeper than 4 mm may indicate periodontitis. Pockets deeper than 6 mm cannot be cleaned well. LED light is a form of visible light which can be produced in any color, but blue light is commonly used in dental whitening. This stems from the history of teeth whitening, which originally used ultraviolet (UV) light to speed teeth whitening up. Blue LED light is a safer alternative to UV light because it does not cause mutations in cells. In comparison UV light is a form of ionizing radiation which can, therefore, affect tissue on a cellular level, causing mutations and potentially cancer. As the tissues of the mouth, as well as the nearby eye tissues, are sensitive, it is safer to use LED light for teeth whitening. Dental Implants FREE Consultation Hertfordshire & London

Sometimes, a surgical procedure is carried out to clean away plaque bacteria and deposits that are under the gum within periodontal pockets and on the root surfaces at the furcations (where the roots diverge). These areas are inaccessible to brushes and floss and inflammation will persist in these sites as long as bacteria are allowed to colonize them. Under local anaesthesia, the gum is lifted away and the root surfaces are cleaned under direct vision to ensure that all bacteria are removed. Sometimes, it is possible to treat bone loss at the same time using a special regenerative treatment. At the end of the procedure, the gums are sutured back into place around the teeth. Glamorous Whitestrips have 9.5% hydrogen peroxide content (according to customer service), which our experts recommend. But the product also has an ADA Seal of Acceptance that verifies it’s safe to use and measures up to its marketing claims. While we know from past experience that gaining a seal doesn’t mean a product is the only one that meets ADA standards — companies have to apply and the ADA isn’t always transparent about the application process — the seal is a valuable sign of quality that removes doubt in a world of sketchy whitening claims.

The treatment goals for gingivitis are to identify and eliminate the factors that are making the person more susceptible to gum disease. Most factors can be eliminated by establishing more consistent and thorough oral hygiene habits and professional dental cleanings. If there are certain risk factors such as smoking or uncontrolled diabetes that are contributing to the gum disease, they need to be addressed or eliminated to have success in reversing gingivitis. After the plaque and tartar are removed by a dentist or hygienist, the patient can usually cure gum disease by brushing and flossing after every meal and using a daily mouth rinse. Under the supervision of a dentist, a patient can use 10% carbamide peroxide in a custom made tray that fits over the teeth with positive effects on plaque control and gingival health. This is especially helpful in patients where conventional oral hygiene practices like brushing and flossing are impaired due to age or special needs.

You will also be shown how to remove plaque successfully yourself, cleaning all the surfaces of your teeth thoroughly and effectively. This may take a number of sessions with the dental team. When bleaching is abused and an individual develops an unhealthy obsession with whitening, the term bleachorexia or whitening junky has been used.[26] The condition is characterized by repeated bleaching even though the teeth are already white and will not get any whiter.[45] This condition is somewhat similar to body dismorphic disorder. The individual perceives their teeth never to be white enough, despite repeated bleaching. A person with bleachorexia will typically continually request more bleaching services or products from the dental professional.[45] It has been recommended that a target shade be agreed before starting bleaching treatment to help with this problem.[45]
Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won't slip or shift in your mouth — an especially important benefit when eating and speaking. This secure fit helps the dentures and bridges — as well as individual crowns placed over implants — feel more natural than conventional bridges or dentures. Primary implant stability refers to the stability of a dental implant immediately after implantation. The stability of the titanium screw implant in the patient's bone tissue post surgery may be non-invasively assessed using resonance frequency analysis. Sufficient initial stability may allow immediate loading with prosthetic reconstruction, though early loading poses a higher risk of implant failure than conventional loading.[43] Sensu® London W1 - Harley Street - Invisible Braces & Cosmetic Dentist

Strength of bleaching agent. Over-the-counter products and dentist-supervised at-home products usually contain a lower strength bleaching agent, with about a 10% to 22% carbamide peroxide content, which is equivalent to about 3% hydrogen peroxide. In-office, professionally applied tooth whitening products contain hydrogen peroxide in concentrations ranging from 15% to 43%.

Nearly half the initial change in color provided by an intensive in-office treatment (i.e., 1 hour treatment in a dentist's chair) may be lost in seven days.[42] Rebound is experienced when a large proportion of the tooth whitening has come from tooth dehydration (also a significant factor in causing sensitivity).[43] As the tooth rehydrates, tooth color "rebounds", back toward where it started.[44] Central London Implant Dentistry Harley Street Dental Studio

The goal of toothbrushing is to remove plaque on the teeth that will harbor bacteria and cause gum disease and tooth decay. Just about any toothpaste when used with consistent thorough brushing habits will accomplish this goal. There are some ingredients in toothpastes that help remove plaque more effectively and help keep plaque off the teeth after they have been brushed. The abrasive agents in toothpaste such as silicates and calcium carbonates help remove plaque that is a little sticky. Sodium lauryl sulfate is a detergent in toothpaste that causes the foaming effect of toothpastes. Toothpastes vary in the amount of SLS they contain; a high concentration of SLS can cause problems for patients who have dry mouth or low saliva flow. Some toothpastes include plaque-control agents such as pyrophosphates and zinc citrate that prevent plaque from sticking to the teeth after they've been brushed. Using a toothpaste that contains any combination of these ingredients will increase the effectiveness of oral hygiene.

If you don’t need bone grafting, getting a dental implant should be no more bothersome than getting a filling—maybe less—and you won’t need any time off work to recover. You may have some mild soreness or swelling for the first few days after getting your implant, but this can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications and shouldn’t affect your daily routine. Your dentist may suggest a soft or liquid diet for a few days or so.
Regular teeth cleaning by a dentist removes plaque that may develop, even with careful brushing and flossing. This is very important for getting at areas that are hard to reach on your own. Professional cleaning includes scaling and polishing. This procedure uses instruments to loosen and remove deposits from the teeth. Routine exams may include dental x-rays. Your dentist can catch problems early, so they do not become more serious and expensive to fix.

An estimated two in three Americans have one or more missing teeth, mainly due the rise in  periodontal disease as the population grows older.  Tooth loss and other oral health problems in older Americans recently prompted AARP to declare the “Over 50 Dental Crisis.”  In 2006, Dental Economics reported that more than 30 million Americas are missing all their teeth in one or both jaws.
A removable implant supported denture (also an implant supported overdenture[9](p31)) is a type of dental prosthesis which is not permanently fixed in place. The dental prosthesis can be disconnected from the implant abutments with finger pressure by the wearer. To enable this, the abutment is shaped as a small connector (a button, ball, bar or magnet) which can be connected to analogous adapters in the underside of the dental prosthesis. Facial prosthetics, used to correct facial deformities (e.g. from cancer treatment or injuries) can use connections to implants placed in the facial bones.[10] Depending on the situation the implant may be used to retain either a fixed or removable prosthetic that replaces part of the face.[11]

Bleaching is least effective when the original tooth color is grayish and may require custom bleaching trays. Bleaching is most effective with yellow discolored teeth. If heavy staining or tetracycline damage is present on a patient's teeth, and whitening is ineffective (tetracycline staining may require prolonged bleaching, as it takes longer for the bleach to reach the dentine layer), there are other methods of masking the stain. Bonding, which also masks tooth stains, is when a thin coating of composite material is applied to the front of a person's teeth and then cured with a blue light. A veneer can also mask tooth discoloration. Dental Implants North London Exceptional 5 Star Review by David F.
