Once you have applied the whitening gel, either in strips or tray form, you can turn on the blue LED light and hold it against your teeth. Some kits have a light you can bite down on so that you don’t have to hold it in place, while others require you to sit still and hold the light in place as it works to cure the whitening gel. Most teeth whitening kits have LED lights that provide up to 460 nanometers of light, but it will vary from kit to kit. The light doesn’t just help to cure the whitening gel; it actually helps activate the ingredients in it to provide the whitest smile possible. Eastman Dental Hospital
To cut down on sensitivity during the whitening process, you can try brushing with Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste (recommended by a few dentists we spoke to). Dr. Lawlor also recommends “putting a little toothpaste in a mouthguard and wearing it for about an hour after whitening — it seals off sensitive canals that teeth whiteners open to remove stains.” However, if you’re in real pain, give your teeth a break! You can always come back to whitening later or consult a dentist to see what other options are available. A happy patient who was let down by NHS dentist

In some people, gingivitis progresses to periodontitis – with the destruction of the gingival fibers, the gum tissues separate from the tooth and deepened sulcus, called a periodontal pocket. Subgingival microorganisms (those that exist under the gum line) colonize the periodontal pockets and cause further inflammation in the gum tissues and progressive bone loss. Examples of secondary causes are those things that, by definition, cause microbic plaque accumulation, such as restoration overhangs and root proximity.
How to Prevent Gum InfectionJust about every area of your body is susceptible to infection, including your mouth. And if you have an infection, it’s important to get treatment promptly. In the case of your mouth, infected gums can not only be very painful, they can also be a sign of a more serious condition such as advanced periodontal disease, otherwise known as periodontitis.Periodontitis affects the area of your mouth just below the gum line, in the v-shaped crevice between your tooth and gums, known as the sulcus. This impacts the attachment of your tooth and causes the nearby tissue to break down. Once the tissue is damaged, the sulcus develops into a pocket that can store bacteria and lead to gum infection. Since gums provide fundamental support for our teeth, it’s vital to keep them, and your gum line, in good health.Gum Infection SymptomsAlthough serious gum infections aren’t extremely common, they can lead to major issues if not treated in a timely manner. While most of us want to keep our teeth and gums healthy, your gums can be prone to gum infection if not cared for properly. Identifying warning signs that can lead to infected gums is an important way to help prevent further gum disease and all the side effects that come with it.Signs that you may have infected gums include: Introduction to our Dental Clinic in London Bridge - Londent Oral Care

An unfortunate reality is that not everyone can afford to have dental insurance. Poor dental health has a negative effect on your overall health. An increased risk of heart disease and diabetes are serious health conditions that are linked to poor oral hygiene. If you suspect that you may have gum disease, you should immediately seek the help of a professional. However, sometimes this may not be an option. Your teeth have pores just like your skin or a sponge. Anything you put in your mouth that has color will absorb into those pores. Wine, coffee, dark berries, and smoking are extremely active in staining teeth. Over time, the natural color of your teeth becomes darker due to these stains. These stains will never go away unless you actively remove them. Properly formulated teeth whitening gel works by absorbing into your teeth and gently pushing stains out through the pores. Implant treatments range from the immediate replacement of an extracted tooth to over six months when jaw surgery and bone grafting is needed. The average treatment is three to six months. Most of the time required to complete implant treatment is taken up just waiting for the bone to fuse completely with the implant. This usually takes a few months and goes on below the gum line without any feeling or awareness. In more complex cases treatment may be longer.
There has been interest in white teeth since ancient times. Ancient Romans used urine and goat milk in an attempt to make and keep their teeth whiter. Guy de Chauliac suggested the following to whiten the teeth: "Clean the teeth gently with a mixture of honey and burnt salt to which some vinegar has been added." In 1877 oxalic acid was proposed for whitening, followed by calcium hypochlorite. Peroxide was first used for tooth whitening in 1884. The Coolest Dentist in London
The first stage of oral surgery often involves a tooth or teeth extraction. Oftentimes, the site of a dental implant still has an existing damaged tooth present. In order to prepare for placement of a dental implant, the tooth will need to be extracted. More often than not, an "alveolar bone graft" (cadaver or synthetic bone) is placed to achieve a solid base of bone for the implant. This site will be allowed to heal for two to six months. For a site that has no tooth and bone loss is present, it will require a different bone graft that is placed on top of existing jawbone ("onlay bone graft"). This procedure is more involved and usually requires about six or more months of healing. In some instances, when enough bone is present, the damaged tooth can be extracted followed by the implant placement procedure at the same appointment. This procedure is called "immediate implant" placement.

It has been suggested that radiotherapy can negatively affect the survival of implants. Nevertheless, a systemic study published in 2016 concluded that dental implants installed in the irradiated area of an oral cavity may have a high survival rate, provided that the patient maintains oral hygiene measures and regular follow ups to prevent complications. It’s our promise that you won’t undergo any treatment not directly contributing to your long-term dental health. That means that drilling, because it’s so invasive, is a last resort. And yes — the alternatives do really work! Remineralization is a process that helps teeth actually grow stronger so that an early soft spot doesn’t turn into a cavity. Sealants are another great option to prevent the formation and spread of decay. It’s only in cases where less invasive treatment isn’t successful that your dentist may decide to drill.
