Teeth sensitivity is highly subjective from one person to the next. But if your pearly whites are prone to pain — do you avoid ice cold water? — we suggest Crest 3D White Whitestrips Gentle Routine. The strips have a lower and gentler concentration of hydrogen peroxide (5.25%, according to customer service) and require just five minutes of wear per day as opposed to 30. None of our testers experienced any sensitivity throughout their four-week testing period, but all reported some level of whitening and an appreciation for the lesser time commitment. It is also possible to have stains inside the tooth. These are called intrinsic stains. For example, intrinsic stains can be caused by exposure to too much fluoride as a child while teeth are developing. Other causes include tetracycline antibiotics. They can stain a child's teeth if taken by a mother during the second half of pregnancy or by a child who is 8 years old or younger. Teeth are still developing during these years. Trauma may also darken a tooth. Dentist in london- what is root canal treatment pt 1

It’s essential to have a well-fitting whitening tray to avoid getting the gel on your gums and lips. Doing so can cause discomfort and sensitivity. It turns out that the extra tray is useful because it can take a special touch to get the temperature of the trays just right to mold them to your mouth! So take your time with this step to ensure proper whitening results.

A lost crown is a dental emergency, but as with a lost filling, you should be able to put off treatment until your general dentist is available. In the meantime, you can apply clove oil to the tooth to alleviate any soreness. You can also apply some denture glue to the tooth and slip the crown back over it. Never use super glue to reattach the crown. If you cannot get the crown to stay securely on your tooth, store it in a plastic bag until you are able to get to the dentist. While you don't need to see the dentist the same night you lose the crown, do make an appointment as soon as possible. Putting off treatment may lead to additional damage to the tooth.

Glamorous Whitestrips have 9.5% hydrogen peroxide content (according to customer service), which our experts recommend. But the product also has an ADA Seal of Acceptance that verifies it’s safe to use and measures up to its marketing claims. While we know from past experience that gaining a seal doesn’t mean a product is the only one that meets ADA standards — companies have to apply and the ADA isn’t always transparent about the application process — the seal is a valuable sign of quality that removes doubt in a world of sketchy whitening claims.

Your dental team will remove all plaque and tartar from your teeth. You will also be shown how to remove plaque successfully yourself, cleaning all the surfaces of your teeth thoroughly and effectively. This may take a number of sessions with the dental team. A good oral care routine at home with brushing and interdental cleaning is the most important thing you can do to help prevent gum disease getting worse. From these theoretical risks, derive the real world complications. Long-term failures are due to either loss of bone around the tooth and/or gingiva due to peri-implantitis or a mechanical failure of the implant. Because there is no dental enamel on an implant, it does not fail due to cavities like natural teeth. While large-scale, long-term studies are scarce, several systematic reviews estimate the long-term (five to ten years) survival of dental implants at 93–98 percent depending on their clinical use.[1][2][3] During initial development of implant retained teeth, all crowns were attached to the teeth with screws, but more recent advancements have allowed placement of crowns on the abutments with dental cement (akin to placing a crown on a tooth). This has created the potential for cement, that escapes from under the crown during cementation to get caught in the gingiva and create a peri-implantitis (see picture below). While the complication can occur, there does not appear to be any additional peri-implantitis in cement-retained crowns compared to screw-retained crowns overall.[48] In compound implants (two stage implants), between the actual implant and the superstructure (abutment) are gaps and cavities into which bacteria can penetrate from the oral cavity. Later these bacteria will return into the adjacent tissue and can cause periimplantitis. As prophylaxis these implant interior spaces should be sealed.[49]

The first stage of oral surgery often involves a tooth or teeth extraction. Oftentimes, the site of a dental implant still has an existing damaged tooth present. In order to prepare for placement of a dental implant, the tooth will need to be extracted. More often than not, an "alveolar bone graft" (cadaver or synthetic bone) is placed to achieve a solid base of bone for the implant. This site will be allowed to heal for two to six months. For a site that has no tooth and bone loss is present, it will require a different bone graft that is placed on top of existing jawbone ("onlay bone graft"). This procedure is more involved and usually requires about six or more months of healing. In some instances, when enough bone is present, the damaged tooth can be extracted followed by the implant placement procedure at the same appointment. This procedure is called "immediate implant" placement. London Dentists Resist New NHS Contracts | Thames News
As with any toothache, you can keep abscess pain under control with cold compresses, salt water rinses, and sticking to soft foods. Your dentist may prescribe antibiotics for you to take before you come into the office; this often helps alleviate pain as it helps your body fight off the infection. Abscesses are often treated with a root canal procedure. If the tooth is badly infected, an extraction is an affordable treatment option.
When bleaching is abused and an individual develops an unhealthy obsession with whitening, the term bleachorexia or whitening junky has been used.[26] The condition is characterized by repeated bleaching even though the teeth are already white and will not get any whiter.[45] This condition is somewhat similar to body dismorphic disorder. The individual perceives their teeth never to be white enough, despite repeated bleaching. A person with bleachorexia will typically continually request more bleaching services or products from the dental professional.[45] It has been recommended that a target shade be agreed before starting bleaching treatment to help with this problem.[45] Meet Dr Michael and Anthony Zybutz from TDC Dental Implant Centres

Ultra-violet (UV) light is a frequency of light that works by accelerating the whitening gel to act faster. This process is FDA regulated and only offered under dentist supervision. Although it does whiten very quickly, it is not an option for people with sensitive teeth. Further, the results are temporary and must still be maintained (often with custom-fitted whitening trays or repeat dental visits). The process is incredibly expensive and time consuming. Whitening toothpastes are different to regular toothpastes in a way that they contain a higher content of abrasives and detergents to fight off tougher stains. Most contain low concentrations of carbamide/hydrogen peroxide (bleaching agents) – this lightens the colour of teeth. These whitening toothpastes make teeth one to two shades lighter.[25] Toothpastes (dentifrices) which are advertised as "whitening" rarely contain carbamide peroxide, hydrogen peroxide or any other bleaching agent.[26] Rather, they are abrasive (usually containing alumina, dicalcium phosphate dehydrate, calcium carbonate or silica), intended to remove surface stains from the tooth surface.[26] Sometimes they contain enzymes purported to break down the biofilm on teeth.[26] Unlike bleaches, whitening toothpaste does not alter the intrinsic color of teeth. Excessive or long term use of abrasive toothpastes will cause dental abrasion, thinning the enamel layer[26] and slowly darkening the appearance of the tooth as the dentine layer becomes more noticeable. An alternative method of whitening at home, which competes with the use of a whitening paste, is the use of a patent whitening mouthwash. The mouthwash shows marginally better efforts at whitening compared to the use of paste.[27] Choosing the Best London Implant Cosmetic Dentist
The snap packs aren’t flawless, though. Colorado-based dentist Dr. Nancy Gill, DDS told us that the paint-on approach — like the one used by the snap packs — leaves the whitening solution open to moisture which “dilutes it and makes it not as effective.” In other words, closing your mouth will wash some of the whitener away. That said, Go Smile still produced some of the most impressive results during our testing. Fujitec Elevator Finch Bus Terminal North York Ontario

The treatments are also very simple. After applying the whitening gel to your dental tray and inserting it into your mouth with a secure fit, apply the LED light and leave for 5 to 20 minutes. If you wish you can gradually work your way up to 45 minutes per treatment but take care as this is a long time to be exposing your teeth to the gel. After the time has passed you can remove the light and you can leave the gel on for another 10 minutes, but this is optional. Same Day Dental Implant Procedure with Oral Surgeon Dr. John Wallace
We saw few comments regarding painful or sensitive teeth with the Plus White 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel. In fact, many say that this is the only whitening product they have ever been able to use without pain. Quite a few also say it's easier to use than strips or tray systems, although some say they use it with whitening trays they've obtained elsewhere.
Brushing and flossing are everyday ways to keep your teeth bright, white and healthy. Still, if you might feel like your smile is lacking some sparkle or is more yellow than it used to be, you’re not alone. When the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry asked people what they’d most like to improve about their smile, the most common response was whiter teeth. The American Association of Orthodontists also found that nearly 90% of patients requested tooth whitening. Clapham Dental Implant Specialist
Gum disease is caused by plaque and may result in tooth loss without proper treatment. Symptoms and signs of gum disease (gingivitis or periodontal disease) include receding gums, bad breath and pocket formation between the teeth and gums. Treatment depends upon the stage of the gum disease, how you responded to earlier treatments, and your overall health. Museum Dental Suites in Holborn - Emergency Dentist London

When a more exacting plan is needed beyond clinical judgment, the dentist will make an acrylic guide (called a stent) prior to surgery which guides optimal positioning of the implant. Increasingly, dentists opt to get a CT scan of the jaws and any existing dentures, then plan the surgery on CAD/CAM software. The stent can then be made using stereolithography following computerized planning of a case from the CT scan. The use of CT scanning in complex cases also helps the surgeon identify and avoid vital structures such as the inferior alveolar nerve and the sinus.[21][22](p1199) Dental Implants Harley Street London - Dr Michael Norton's state-of-the-art surgery

Today, implant dentists apply the principles of evidence-based dentistry in their practices.  As implant dentistry grows in popularity, greater numbers of general dentists will add the specialty to their clinical services.  Their success will depend on receiving high-quality training, such as the AAID credentialing program.  Training focused on rigorous science from researchers and clinicians who have published widely enables new implant practitioners to adopt techniques and procedures that have been validated over time. Darkly stained teeth. Yellowish teeth respond well to bleaching, brownish-colored teeth respond less well and grayish-hue or purple-stained teeth may not respond to bleaching at all. Blue-gray staining caused by the antibiotic tetracycline is more difficult to lighten and may require up to six months of home treatments or several in-office appointments to successfully lighten. Periodontitis is often known as 'Gum Disease' and is a very common condition in which the gums and deeper periodontal structures become inflamed. This inflammation of the gums, which usually takes the form of redness, swelling and a tendency to bleed during tooth brushing, is the body’s response to certain bacteria that have been allowed to accumulate on the teeth. Although part of the body’s defence system, this inflammatory response can eventually cause serious damage. If left unchecked, the inflammation can spread down below the gums and along the roots of the teeth, causing destruction of the periodontal ligament and the supporting bone. This ultimately leads to the loosening and potential loss of the teeth. Dental Implants Clinic Nurident- UK patient from London
Depending on which system you choose to whiten your teeth at home, you may find yourself doing several treatments over several days, or doing just two treatments with a few months interval. Generally, treatments that are fast, such as a system that requires only two treatments with an interval, won’t provide long-lasting results the way a more gradual treatment system would. The longer you apply the light and whitening gel, the better the results will be. However, don’t overuse any system that you buy. It is important to always follow all the instructions that come with the kit you choose to invest in so that you don’t cause unwanted damage to your teeth. Dentist Kings Cross

Bone grafts. This procedure involves using fragments of your own bone, synthetic bone, or donated bone to replace bone destroyed by gum disease. The grafts serve as a platform for the regrowth of bone, which restores stability to teeth. New technology, called tissue engineering, encourages your own body to regenerate bone and tissue at an accelerated rate. Dental implants made easier with Adams Dental in North London
In testing, Go Smile Super White Snap Packs lightened participants' teeth three shades in a week's time. Go Smile has a unique applications system -- the gel comes in tubes that you snap open and rub on your teeth twice per day, morning and night. That allows you to specifically target the gel to your teeth, which may help minimize sensitivity to this whitening treatment. Experts and users like that it doesn't have an unpleasant taste or cause excessive salivation during treatment.
Gels are becoming popular among home teeth whitening aficionados because their targeted application tends to cause less pain in sensitive people. That's because you "paint" them directly on your teeth, which allows you to avoid the solution coming in contact with your gums. Although they claim to whiten quickly and to lighten up dark stains better than other types of whitening products, experts say that's not so: because they're just painted on, they don't really stay on long enough to be as effective as products that stay in contact with your teeth for a set period of time.
